2009 program (to date)

Art of practice 2009

with Cliff Smyth and Deborah Bowes

From January to June 2009 Deborah and Cliff will offer their acclaimed Art of Practice program for newer practitioners.

This is a comprehensive mentorship program based on your needs as a learner. We begin with processes to help you identify your needs and design the curriculum around that. Always included are ATM lessons from the Alexander Yanai materials and time to analyse them and discuss how they can be taught. FI covers what you need – from reviewing basic technique and exciting new technique to how to using talking with clients, progressing them through lessons and engaging them in the learning process. And we study anything else you need to allow you to effectively work with clients, teach class and talk about the Method.

The program includes 12 days of intensive study with the best teacher-student ratio you will probably ever experience (1 to 6). There is no waiting to have your questions answered in FI practice. You can learn directly from experiencing our touch. You can ask any question you like.

In addition, the Art of Practice offers you:
• an individual FI time for use for feedback
• up to two days observation in our private practice
• feedback on your public ATM teaching (we either visit your class or work with a recording of your teaching)
• if there is interest from the group, a practitioner practicum
• study with a chohort - study groups from our earlier programs continue to meet to this day.

We have designed the continuing education program we would have liked to have taken! Art of Practice is an educational program that goes from the practical to the conceptual, from technical skill to professional action. We are committed to improving the quality of your practice of the Feldenkrais Method.

Dates for 2009 are:
• January 17 & 18
• February 7 & 8
• March 7 & 8
