Kathy Flock

I have always loved to move. I studied modern dance in high school and college, swam competitively and started practicing yoga in 1985. By 1994 I was a yoga teacher specializing in pre-natal and mom-baby yoga. In the late '90's I had a dedicated yoga practice, but was still searching for a way to feel more powerful both physically and emotionally. I began taking Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes and soon knew that I needed to become a practitioner. Not only did I feel stronger in my movement, but I felt better about myself in general. Through learning how I moved, my attitude towards myself changed and life became less stressful and much more pleasant. By studying the Feldenkrais Method I was able to live with more grace and ease than I ever imagined.

Since graduating from a Feldenkrais professional training program in 2003 I have worked in several clinics in both San Francisco and Marin counties helping a wide range clients - from adolescents to seniors with varying degrees of abilities - to feel and move better. I have a lot of experience working with people with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke and brain injury. One of my most rewarding experiences has been working in the Adaptive Physical Education Program at College of Marin with physically disabled adults.

Since 2001 I have taught Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes at physical therapy offices, low fee Feldenkrais clinics, and as a guest lecturer in the Psychology of Stress class at City College of San Francisco. In 2008 I began substituting for Deborah's and Cliff's class and am now the primary substitute teacher for their classes at the Feldenkrais Center for Movement Education.

I am also an Authorized Sounder Sleep System® Teacher and am one of the founding staff of the Sounder Sleep School® of San Francisco. I teach classes in the Sounder Sleep System and also offer individualized coaching sessions in this self-healing system for people with insomnia.

I am pleased to be on the staff of the Feldenkrais Center for Movement Education and happy to practice in the company of such successful and supportive professionals.
